Privacy Notice
This notice explains how Hope Vineyard Church ("we", "us") collects and uses your personal information when you sign up for updates or get in touch through this website. We're committed to handling your data carefully and lawfully under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who we are
Hope Vineyard Church is a new church plant in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, in partnership with Vineyard Churches UK & Ireland. We are the "data controller" for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@hope.gy.
What we collect, and why
- If you sign up for updates: your name and email address, so we can keep you posted about the launch, gatherings, events and ways to get involved.
- If you contact us: your name, email and the content of your message, so we can reply.
- Website analytics (only with your consent): anonymised information about how the site is used (see Cookies below).
Our lawful basis for sending you updates is your consent — given when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time (see "Your rights").
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data or share it for marketing. We use trusted providers to run the church on our behalf (our "data processors"), who only act on our instructions:
- ChurchSuite — our church management system, which stores sign-up and contact details (UK-based).
- Our website hosting and email providers, to deliver the site and our messages.
We may disclose information if required by law (for example, to comply with a legal obligation or to protect someone's safety).
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up details until our launch and a reasonable period afterwards, or until you ask us to remove them or unsubscribe — whichever is sooner. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:
- Essential cookies — needed for the site to work and to remember your cookie choice. These don't need consent.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — optional, and only set after you choose "Accept analytics" on the banner. They help us understand how the site is used. IP addresses are anonymised.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's cookies/site data in your browser — the banner will reappear and you can decline. If you choose "Essential only", no analytics cookies are set.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have it corrected or erased; restrict or object to how we use it; data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@hope.gy.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk · helpline 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so do contact us too.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice as the church develops. We'll change the "last updated" date above when we do.
